I have XP Pro installed on my computer. I am having problems and would like
to reinstall. I have lost my original copy but have a new one. Can I
reinstall without loosong my links to the applications I have on my machine?

you can try a repair install, boot from your xp cd and let it
load up then when the first screen appears asking for a repair or new
install
choose install new, not to worry, when you get to the next screen
it will ask for a repair or new install choose repair,
you will need your cdkey. It is like a new install but it will leave
your files intact.

Even if I do not have the old copy but a new one eith a new keycode?

Even if I do not have my original discs or key number...I do have a new one?

I did this before, but don't 100% count on it.

Another problem is that I have the original XP cd, but my pc has been
upgraded to XP SP2 online long time ago. When I put original cd trying
to repair, it saied "your computer has newer version than the CD".

There is a way to combine original XP & SP2 and make one new bootable XP
SP2 cd. But this is a lot of work.

Yes a repair install should work. It will ask for the CD key. Type in
the new one. Make sure you have a backup of important data just in
case. You should _always_ have a full and complete backup.
