What are tigmu.exe and rarwin.exe?

Are there anyone knows what are tigmu.exe and rarwin.exe? What are the
functions of them? I found them in my Win2000 laptop. But I don't know what
they are? Thank you!

Did you Google?
RAR for windows is my guess for rarwin.exe, but check the file's
Properties, Version at a minimum.
No guess on tigmu.exe. What if any properties/version?
Where are the files located? Etc. ...
Updated Anti-* scans done?

BTW unless either or both are started from a "Run" location in the
registry, this seems off topic here

Hi Mark,

What is RAR? Let me tell you where the tigmu.exe is located later.
Thank you!

RAR is a packed file format like ZIP. The programs that create the files
are rar.exe or winrar.exe for the gui version *not* rarwin.exe.

Presumably rarwin.exe is malware hiding under this name.

Thanks for that correction Matthias. Shows you that I don't use RAR

That seems most likely here. OP must scan for malware first thing
and consider the possibility of a CoolWebSearch "infection".

Sorry! Could you tell me what the difference is, if I use RAR in Windows?
In constract, if I get rid of them, then any influence on Windows?
Besides, Mark mentioned CWS. What is this?
By the way, for the rarwin.exe, I need delete it by using scan software,
needn't I? Can I just kill the porcess and relevent registries?
Any comments on the tigmu.exe? Thank you both!

Hi Peter,

rar or winrar aren't part of windows, they should only be present when
*you* did install them.
If you downloaded from http://www.rarsoft.com it installs uusally to
C:\Program Files\WinRAR or your language dependent equivalent.

I you didn't install it you should secure your system by running
several tools like adaware, spybot S&D, virusscanner of your choice etc.

You need a "security forum" and or help from someone knowledgeable
in these areas. Scan online or with local application for viruses,
trojans, spyware, adware. Then "lock down" your system to prevent
future problems. All topics not covered in depth in this group.

Thank you both Matthias and Mark!
You're right. I have to enhance my laptop security. I think I never
installed this kind of software. Is it also able to be clearly get them out
of my laptop? I mean
by using virus or adware scan software. Thank you anyway! Let me try!

I've tried SmileyCentral a LOONG time ago. It included CoolWebSearch, I
uninstalled SC and CWS was gone (lol, newer versions of cws were quite
resistant to uninstallation). I have never used serious protection (not much
more than AVG, no I do NOT have antivirus gold on my pc, just grisofts AVG).
SC team must have implemented it but i don't remember about popups for porn
sites.

Good luck with all the OneCare stuff :)
