What AGP rate does Windows XP Pro use?

Hi,

I posted something about this earlier but I think I may not have been
specific about what I'm actually questioning.

All my hardware is indeed using and running at 8x AGP. I have all the
chipset drivers and hardware drivers up to date as of 2 days ago.

The only component that does not report as using 8x AGP is the Operating
System which is Window XP Pro.

I only want to know if Windows XP is capable of using 8x AGP. It will only
show up as using 2x AGP. What AGP setting is XP Pro capable of? If it's
not limited to 2x AGP, how can I tweak it to fully use the 8x AGP? Or
maybe the reports showing aren't polling the OS properly and reporting the
wrong setting?

I've attached an example of what I'm refering to (providing this newgroup
lets me post pictures). Notice that the GPU, Chipset are all showing as
utilizing 8x AGP but the Operating System is not, it only shows as capable
of 2x AGP.

I would think that the reports are mis-reports the AGP rate.

AGP is a factor of the motherboard/video card combination. It has nothing to
do with the operating system.

Download and install AIDA32. Go to motherboard/chipset. It will tell you
what speed your motherboard actually supports, and the current speed (along
with a lot of other stuff).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the AGP setting on

the motherboard pertains to the graphic card only. I
don't believe XP cares whether you have 2X/4X or 4X/8X
pins set up, or if you have a PCI graphic card.
