I am curious on how to make my computer, with WIN XP,
boot up without going to the welcome screen or logon
screen and just boot directly to the desktop. My laptop
with XP on it does it why can't my desktop do it? Any
suggestions?

You can use the following easy steps to enable automatic logon:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type: control userpasswords2 , and then click OK.
3. In the dialog box that appears, clear the "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer" check box, and then click OK.

BUT, when I follow KB 315231 the "Legal Notice" Dialog box
still comes up (LegalNoticeCaption & LegalNoticeText in
the "WinLogon" key).

If I "blank" or delete or rename these entries the problem
goes away ...BUT reappears after 1 logon (XP is putting
the default entries back in?)

Anybody know way to defeat this?
