Welcome screen gone

When the screen saver came on, it used to go back to the
welcome screen for the password. Now to enter the password
out of the screen saver, a dialog box comes up the says
"Your computer is locked", and then I enter the password.
It works fine, but I want to utilize the welcome screen.

In Display Properties go to the ScreenSaver tab.
There is an option in here called "On resume display Welcome Screen"
Perhaps you unticked this?

No, there isnt'. It says On resume, password protect. In
Control Panel/User Accounts/Change the way users log on and
off, there is a Use the welcome screen checkbox. It is
checked, and still doesn't come up, except during startup.
