The funny thing is, it's highly unlikely that our own machines
actually has any spyware installed ;-)

However, a steady supply of infested machines isn't hard to
come-by.

So, did everyone notice a new version of HiJackThis has been
released, with a simplified interface?

Newer than v.1.99 ?

I agree that our machines are unlikely to be infected.

I'm assuming, that since this is a public beta, that the licensing will be
such that I won't be afraid to install it on machines I don't normally
maintain, but have sufficient influence over to be able to do that kind of
thing.

No, I was referring to 1.99.0 which is the current version.

I must not have had to delouse a machine for a while so I've
only just seen that newer version ;-)

It might be nice to post some lists of dangerous drive-by download web
sites so we could test Atlanta.

But we already know, or can find out, what malware the Giant software is
able to deal with and then zoom in on the malware that needs to be dealt
with but isn't yet.

A toolbar here or there is no big deal, but Atlanta must deal with and
keep up with the CoolWebSearch criminals, TV Media, lop.com, and Hacker
Defender, along with all the nasty trojans that HD protects.

Does anyone know if the Giant antispyware had a solution for win9x?

Giant doesn't handle TV Media worth a crap, and also has problems with some
of the VX2 variants.

If you want spyware, just download the spyware-supported version of
Grokster. It filled a Virtual PC with over 80MB of files and more different
spyware products than I could shake a bottle of bleach at!

Also if you capture the URLs it despatches you can bet that many of them
have drive-by as well.

btw - hello to all! I for one welcome our spyware-removing overlords. ;-)

Oh, here you are all of you.....
As far as I understand, Security MVP's were already part of the beta before
it turns public.... always the same :)

Cheers
