Weirdest Thing Yet in Access 97

Alright, I know everyone's going to think I'm crazy but I'm not making this
up. I've been working on an Access 97 application that has been acting up
lately. Strange unpredictable behavior.

In trying to figure out where the problem was, I was browsing through my
list of tables and came across a table I NEVER created called "Paste
Errors". I opened it up and found only one field, a text field called
Field0. In that field was one record with the following entry:

"master_of_pain6215 "

I tried deleting this table and the strange behavior persists. This
application hasn't been put "online" yet and no one could have inserted this
table.

I did a google search using the above entry and got no relevant hits so it
doesn't seem as though others have reported this. Is there some sort of
virus that can enter Access 97? Anyone know how to purge this? Any
thoughts greatly appreciated.

I think you're going crazy ;-)

"Paste Errors" is a standard table created by Access when you import stuff. It
lists items which couldn't be imported, for whatever reason. The table will
then sit there until you delete it, so it might be leftover from an import of
5yrs ago. 10yrs ago? If I said 20yrs ago you might conclude I am crazy.

If you import/paste data into an Access table, and there is any problem with
the insert (e.g. required field missing), Access creates a table called
"Import Errors" or "Paste Errors" so you can review the records that were
not correctly imported.

This is normal (and very useful) behavior. If you don't care about which
records did not import correctly, you can safely delete the table.

This is a standard thing Access does. At some past point, you or someone
tried to paste data into a table. All the data from the source was pasted in
except "master_of_pain6215 ". Access alerts you to this when it happens. If
you were the one pasting, perhaps you forgot this happened. If someone else
pasted, they forgot to tell you. BTW, it will happen manually or
programatically.

My confidence is now restored.

I s'pose it's inappropriate to relate about the American Doctor who "attended
me" in McMurdo Antarctica. We were having quite a discussion, and he
gesticulated so much that he accidentally speared me with the syringe he was
holding. There seems to be no residual harm done, unless insanity is a virus?
