Weird problem

Hi, I make a clean install of windows xp on my daugther's computer which is
presario 5wv296 5000 series i use my own keyboard which is ps2 after the
installation everything was working fine, she came get the computer kookup
her usb keyboard the keyboard doesn't work she try a adapter usb to ps2
without success she try different slot nothing she unplugged the cable reboot
put back the cable nothing "windows found new harware unknow device" she try
a second keyboard from a identical computer which the keyboard is working on
that computer and not working on my daugther's computer she try a third bran
name ps2 keyboard and that one is working weird !!!! the legacy usb is enable
in the bios any suggestion to resolve that problem?...Thanks

the computer, she connected her usb keyboard. The keyboard
didn't work so she tried an adapter, usb to ps2

Replaced the cable without success. [more explanation needed
here] Did you get a new hardware found or do you mean you
didn't get a new hardware found?]
A second keyboard, from an identical, working computer, did
not function. put back the cable nothing "windows found new
hardware unknown device" She even tried a second keyboard
from a identical computer which the keyboard is working
correctly. but does not work with my daughter's computer.
She tried a third keyboard, name brand PS/2 and it works
[ Is it weird that it works or does it work weirdly?]
!!!! the legacy usb is enable in the bios any suggestion to
resolve that problem?...Thanks

See, the use of periods and other punctuation helps.
Boot the computer with a working keyboard (PS/2) and while
the PS/2 kybd is connected, plug the USB keyboard in. Open
the device manager, select the keyboard, then properties and
select "scan for hardware changes."
