Websiteviewer

Some how this spyware program (websiteviewer) got into my
computer. Usually after I log on line, a folder will
appear in program files, also an icon will appear in my
desktop. It kicks me off (I have dial up internet access)
and dials something (I heard it is a 900 number). Even
though I delete everything (the icon, the folder in
program file, and the icon on all programs, the next time
I log on everything appears again. I downloaded a spyware
software attacker from aol and nothing happened. I was
told to set windows xp on safe and go to internet
explorer and delete some files in the temporary folder,
but when I did it, there wasn't any file. Don't know what
to do, thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have a dialler. They can be very expensive if allowed to run
amok.

FWIW, Spybot Search & Destroy, as I recall, is better than average at
diallers--I would download that--www.safer-networking.org is the home site,
if Microsoft Antispyware doesn't do the job.

In either case, I would restart in Safe mode, and do a full scan of your
system. Repeat the scan until it comes out clean.

An antivirus scan wouldn't hurt, either.

This one appears to be pretty well known, so I'd go ahead and try Microsoft
Antispyware in safe mode. If that doesn't do the job, use Spybot Search &
destroy, download, install, and update first, then scan in safe mode.
