websites will not load without first typing 'http://' first

I am unable to load websites from the address bar without first typing
'http://' before the website. For instance, if I were to type "espn.com" and
press enter, nothing will happen. HOwever, if I were to type in
http://espn.com the website loads right away. This is happening to every
website I try to enter. In addition, I can load websites from "my favorites"
and navigate to other websites from links via each webpage.

In Firefox 1.05 this doesn't happen.
