I have not been able to access tesco.com for shopping. I've used this site
for years but can't now. I just keep getting 'this page cannot be displayed'

1= Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called
[ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on
[Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [
Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites.

Click on Advanced Tab and scroll down under the browsing option and uncheck
this box:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) and click Apply
then Ok to close your IE Properties.

And also scan for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

Open a Run Command By clicking Start >> Run and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]

netsh winsock reset click [OK]

Or you can download this winsock fixer from here:
http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html
Reboot your machine and see if you could access that site.

Have done all those things but still no luck. When I type ipconfig/flushdns,
I get the message 'windows cannot find ipconfig/flushdns'
Any other ideas that might help?

ipconfig /flushdns [Space between Ipconfig_/]

You can look in the Hosts File for any reference to the site and remove, on
how to access the Hosts file do the following:
Open Window Explorer ( Not Internet Explorer) and locate this path:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc = look in the Right Pane/window for Hosts
but not the Hosts.Sam leave this as is, open the Hosts file in Notepad and
see if the site is there.
your Hosts file will
looks like this:
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # Source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # Client Host
127.0.0.1 LocalHost
------------------------------------------
Remove all other References other than those above.

Again do you have a third-party that can block the cookies for that site and
Prevent you from accessing it?.

I have done all the things but still not able to get on. I'm sorry but I
don't know what a third party that can block the cookies means. Bit dim when
it comes to computers I'm afraid. I have 2 computers in the house, this one
and one upstairs which my daughter uses. They are using wireless router.
Can't get the tesco website on hers either. Its not a problem with tesco as I
have checked with them.

Okay, try to Turn OFF your Router for about 30 seconds or so also the
computers to refresh the Router memory a little bit.
Then Power ON the Router wait for a Minute or two then Power ON the
Computers and try.
Third-Party like your Anti-Virus Firewall, Anti-Spyware can block cookies
automatically as configured by you or by default.

Yes it works now!!!!!!! After turning off router & computer & rebooting its
fine now
