Hi
I have registered a domain name in yahoo and got the ip adress also.
How can i configure my xp installed pc as a web server by using this IP.

1. Your DSL IP must be placed in Yahoo!'s DNS as an "A" record. So
that traffic looking for your XP web server is directed to your XP PC.
(Put simply).
2. Your DSL IP may often change. This means you need to log on to
Yahoo! and update your "A" record.

Set up a personal web server in XP by using Add/Remove programs and
select system components - you'll want to install "IIS"

To find out the IP you need to enter into Yahoo, go to http://whatismyip.com

You may have to let yahoo do your hosting for you. Or get a FREE
domain for your XP PC from dyndns.com

Its easy if you know what result you want. Much cheaper hosting and
domains can be found elsewhere on the net. godaddy.com for example.

When you do this, you need to be aware that it will take some time
(maybe a few days) for the change to propagate around the Internet.

Set up a personal web server in XP by using Add/Remove programs and
select system components - you'll want to install "IIS"

IIS runs only in XP Pro, not XP Home. Other webservers, like Apache
(http://httpd.apache.org) will run in XP Home.

To find out the IP you need to enter into Yahoo, go to http://whatismyip.com

Or open a command console ("DOS Box") and type ipconfig.
