webpage request not working

Hi

What could be the problem if I could connect to the internet and download my
email messages but when trying to request any web page I got an error page,
even I could

ping <that website>

and get a response ?

I am using a ADSL modem PPPoE <point-to-point Protocol over Ethernet>

I suspect a DNS problem so I have changed the TCP/IP configuration from auto
dns to a will known dns server in my area, after test connectivity with that
DNS server, but with no avail

I have heard that there are some spy codes could do that.

Ping command working ok and got a response from the website

I suspect that port 80 is blocked!!!

as I can connect using other ports that are 25 smtp, 110
pop3,.......ICMP.......

I forgot to check open ports with netstat command, I will try that.
