DNS not working

Hello Newsgroup!

I encounter a strange problem with my WinXP (SP2).

We are using a PPPoE-Dialup-donnection, that connects
fine. I get two DNS-servers and I can ping them.

BUT its not possible to access internet pages via
their name. Accessing them by their IP is possible
after finding them via nslookup, which works fine
(e.g. in IE or FF, so it can´t be a firewall problem,
they can access the internet)

DNS-Client-Service enabled or disabeled does not change
a thing, though it should work without.

ipconfig/flushdns does not change a thing, i guess
cache is empty anyway...

The problem is independent to the dialup-connection,
its the same with a hardware router. Connects fine.
Gets DNS-Servers. I can ping IPs, use nslookup but
PC does not resolve adresses.

Other computers work with the router or with
a identical PPPoE-Connection.

I ran out of ideas. Please help me!

Sound like your ISP provider is having DNS problems. You can try
setting up your DNS server entries to use the OpenDNS servers:

https://www.opendns.com/homenetwork/start/device/windows-xp
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
