webcam

I try to instal a logitech webcam "quickcam messenger" or somthing like that.

But when I finish instalinf the web cam, I am suppose to conect it to a USB
port, anc click next, but my web cam is not detected by my computer,

I try USB 1.1 : I hear the usual 2 bing of conection, but Windows say it is
a new stuff and try to instal it by it sels and when I say to him to use my
CD he say that he can't find the driver.

When I try USB 2 I hear 3 fast bing and windows did'nt say he find new stuff

I try with an other web cam thw same model (I return the first one) and it
is the same thing

Should I disable mus fire wall and anti-virus and anti-spy ware

I think I will try my "new" instal CD with come with my "new" cam, but if it
dosen't work...

Hi
I have little knowledge about computers & newsgroups.
My English is poor but still shall try to help since have been using
Logitech click smart 510 on this machine with windows xp sp2 & antivirus.
Firstly try removing the cam software if installed previously, using the
Logitech CD.
Than reboot, plug in your cam in the USB port, it shall be high lighted in
the device manager as a YELLOW object.
Insert Logitech software CD which shall auto run, asking for various options
like complete installation, customized or removal.
As to your requirements keep on going & automatically all the necessary soft
wares including the drivers will be installed.
At the end it shall ask for a reboot, on startup xp shall give various
messages, as new device found, installing software’s for it, you can see that
on your monitor’s screen right lower corner. The process is all automatic &
takes about 10 mins in total.
If you still have problems email on (e-mail address removed).
Hope it works...it should unless your OS is a corrupted when. Antivirus &
firewall have nothing to do with it.

I folow your instructions and I finally find my probleme... at less what I
think was my probleme.

I wnt to logitech site, I look for An Up date, (that I found by the way)

BUT in the download site they say I need "directx 9"
I instal it and all is fine now.

In the instal CD they don't say I need directx 9...

would you know why i couldn't run a logitech quick cam messenger on win xp
media center? the came works fine on it's own but yahoo messenger can't
"find" the cam.

any ideas?
