Web Page Not Available in Offline Mode

I am running XP Professional and IE6. There are two computers on a LAN
networked through a Linksys Firewall router to a Qwest DSL modem. My computer
is XP Pro and the other is XP Home.
Several times a day I try to access a web site (not a particular one) and I
get a message saying I cannot access the web site in offline mode. I have to
exit IE and restart it and then it works. When I get this problem I run in
the other room and check out the other computer to see if it has lost the
connection but it is OK. The work offline selection under File is not checked.
Is there some setting that is not proper thus causing me to go offline?
Thanks.

Please post exact messages, not your interpretation of them.

I suspect you are seeing the Work Offline/Try Again dialog
which is quite common for DSL users. Usually it is sufficient for them
just to click on Try Again. Clicking on Work Offline would set the Work Offline
option (e.g. as seen as a check in the File menu) and would result in a message
closer to the one that you are reporting. That symptom apparently can be changed
by making changes in the DSL software, etc.

You may find PPPoE a useful search term for researching this further. E.g.
