Web cam or video camera

Can Messenger conduct a video conversation with a regular video camera?
Messenger seesthe image coming in through my video camera. When I invite
someone to a conversation (we both have XP and Messenger 5.0), they do not
receive video. My computer says its sending and I can see what I'm trying
to send in the Messenger window. Do I need software that runs between the
camera and Messenger (does it exist) or do I just need to get a web cam with
associated software? Thanks for your help.

Greetings Bill,

If it's appearing in the Messenger window, you and your contact might try turning off the QoS
Packet Scheduler. To do so, click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then
Communications, and then Network Connections. Right click your network/internet connection,
then click Properties. Uncheck the QoS Packet Scheduler, and try again.

Thank you, Johathan. When I right-click properties, I'm told that I am
using an internet sharing device and there is no entry for QoS Packet
Scheduler. I'm using a Microsoft MN-100 router for my 2-PC home network and
access to a broadband modem.
