web cam settings

I am trying to use my Sony Hi8 Video camera (hooked
through Pinnacle MovieBox) as a web cam. An MSN e-mail
told me I needed to adjust camera settings in Messenger
through Tools<Web Camera Settings and NOT the Audio/Video
Tuning Wizard. As soon as I click on the Web Camera
Settings, a window pops up that Messenger has encountered
a problem and needs to close. I updated from 6.1 to 6.2
hoping this would help, but same problem exists. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been
working on this problem for quite some time.

Greetings Sami,

Unfortunately the "Webcam" feature in MSN Messenger 6.x doesn't support these types of video
devices currently (and the Web Camera Settings uses the "Webcam" functionality, which is why
this isn't working).

Instead, go through the Audio/Video Tuning wizard to select the camera, then choose the
Actions menu and then select "Start Video Conference". This will start the other video
functionality in MSN Messenger (what's tested by the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard) but in order
for this to work, your contact will need to be using Windows XP.
