Starting today I am getting this error message and am unable to logon to MSN
Messenger.

"We could not sign you in to MSN Messenger. It appears you are behind a
firewall that does not allow a direct connection to the Internet. We tried
to sign you in through an HTTP proxy, but your Internet Explorer proxy
settings are either missing or incorrect. To adjust your IE proxy settings,
click the IE Tools menu, click Internet Options, click the Connection tab,
and then click LAN Settings."

Not sure as to what is causing this, but I am getting it on a few machines.

any help would be appreciated.

I get the same message on Windows 2000, two machines.
No logon to Messenger, no access to msn.com or msnews.microsoft.com,
Windows update site doesn't work, no response from support
pages from www.microsoft.com. All non-Microsoft sites OK. I am
also on Roadrunner. HTTP proxy set to automatic, as usual.
