Watermark

ah

I want to use a background picture as a watermark. In
Format Background, Background picture and Make it a
watermark are ticked but the picture does not appear as a
watermark.

I think this feature is only supported in IE and even then only in very latested
versions V 5.5 and up probably.

Watermarked (or background-attachment:fixed;) images will be rendered
properly in IE5+ and contemporary browsers, including NN7+ (and probably 6+
although I no longer have that one installed) and FireFox (I don't know
about Opera, but I suspect it will do so).

When I use a watermarked background on a page, I see it fine in FP2003. Can
you show me your code or post a URI to the page, please?

The code generated by Frontpage is:
<body background="images/SPRING.JPG" style="background-
attachment: fixed">
Indeed there is no indication of watermark (that I could
read?) but the watermark box is ticked in Frontpage for
this picture

That code will certainly work. But perhaps you are expecting something
different than I. A watermark image is one that stays in the same place
underneath the page content as the page scrolls, i.e., it doesn't scroll
with the page - is that what you are expecting?

A

ah

No, it is not. I thought that a watermark would make my
picture fade and become a bit transparent, if you see
what I mean

The term Watermark in FP is not the same in the Print World, in FP the term means to place the
background image in a fixed position where the content of the page scrolls over the background
image.

You have to use a image application that allow you to set the degree of transparency the you want,
then save and re-import the image into FP as your page background.
