Watermark in a wod.doc

I've got a printed watermark in a word.doc and I can't get rid of it, tried
the obvious, can anybody hep?
 
What is "the obvious" that you tried, and what version of Word do you have?
 
View | Header and Footer. Select the watermark and press Delete.
