MYSTERIOUS WATERMARK

I have a Word document that has a watermark. However, when I go to
Format/Background/Printed Watermark, the "No Watermark" option is selected.
There must be another way to insert/remove a watermark other than the path
noted above. Can anyone help me out on this?

A watermark is a picture or text box anchored to the header paragraph. To
get rid of it, just activate the header/footer area, for example by
double-clicking the header; you should then be able to select the object and
delete it.

In addition to what Stefan said, note that some printers have the ability to
add a watermark, so if the watermark appears only on printing (not in Print
Preview), then that would be the explanation. (I suspect you're actually
seeing it in your document, however, so Stefan's answer will be the correct
one.)
