My home pc appears to be dialing up to my internet
provider by itself. I suspect someone has planted a file
in it via the internet. At times I am getting the
following error message: "XRuntime error!
C:\WINNT\system32\watchb25.exe This application has
requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application support team for more
information."

Can you tell me if watchb25.exe is a normal program for
Windows 2000? I've checked in task manager and it is
running, and I'm wondering if it is the source of my
problem.

Thanks,

David Buckner

I haven't found any information on that particular file, but it could very well be malware. Try running SpyBot S&D by clicking the link below; make sure you download all updates before you scan.
