When syncing Outlook 2002 with my PDA using MS ActiveSync, I get a pop up
window inside of MS Outlook warning that “A program is trying to access
e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If
this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose ‘No’.†The
options are: Allow this for [1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes] (The
choices are in a pull-down window with a checkbox to the left of “Allowâ€.)
There are three buttons at the bottom of the window: Yes, No, Help.

There is no box asking if I don’t want to be asked this question anymore, as
there are in many MS pop-up windows.

If this window pops up while I am moving an item on my calendar from one
time-slot to another, Outlook freezes up and I have to shut-down Outlook
using Windows Task Manager.

Is there any way to disable this warning? Is this a real MS pop-up window,
or is it a masquerade by some third-party? Please help, It seems to be a
fairly new phenomenon, so that I might have downloaded a security upgrade in
Outlook, which is causing this new and frustrating situation.

Have you updated ActiveSync recently? Most recent versions of syncing
programs deal with the Outlook security enhancements without popping up that
dialog... at least from what I've seen.

I have just started getting exactly the same problem. I have just installed
the latest version of Activesync 3.8 but the problem remains.

I have checked
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2002sp3.htm#problems
and cannot see any obvious conflicts. I have checked the Registry entry
regarding Acrobat.

I am now trying Windows Office XP Detect and Repair.

I am running AVG 7 antivirus software.
