Sync only certain categories to PDA

Hi,

I am intested in getting a PDA running Windows Mobile 6. I currently use
Outlook extensively for my contacts and calander. Is there a way to sync
_only_ certain categories? I do not need all 400+ contacts in my phone nor
all my calander options for the last 4 years. I know there is an option to
only sync the last 2 weeks worth of information, but sometimes i need more
than that, such as birthdates, but i dont care to see past business
appointments or whatever else.
