Want to stop shared folders

I have decided not to bother with shared folders and want to stop this
feature without losing anything in there. But when I try to move or copy
these files back to regular My Documents, I get an errror msg saying I can't
do that. I am the only user. I have already turned off sharing, but nothing
happens. I use Win XP Professional.
