want to get rid of unwanted program

a file got in my puter called new net dot.i've tried spy remover
programs,deleting from windows ,also from search.it tells that the file is
being used by another program,so it cannot delete it.as far as i know this is
a bad file to get in ur computer.any help in how i can get rid of this?ty.

use ctrl+alt+del and open task manager to close the process and then
delete it with SHIFT+DEL(a.k.a. "PERMA-DEL" ).
But if it pops up again, there is another process that automatically
starts it when it closes. You can use TeaTimer from Spybot
Search&Destroy if the process is listed in their bad processes list.

If you are using any version of Sun Java that is prior to JRE Version 5.0,
then you are strongly urged to remove any/all versions that are prior to JRE
Version 5.0. There are vulnerabilities in them and they are actively being exploited.
It is possible that is how you got infected with malware.

Therefore, it is highly suggested that if there are any prior versions of Sun Java
to Version 5 on the PC that they be removed and Sun Java JRE Version 5.0 Update 6
be installed ASAP.

Simple check, look under...
C:\Program Files\Java

The only folder under that folder should be the latest version...

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

I also suggest downloading, installing and updating BHODemon for any Browser Helper Objects
that may be on the PC.

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help

Doesn't make a differencde what "computer" it is. The OP was hit with the New Dot Net
malware.

Except it won't remove the LSP plug-In and you'll be left with a broken TCP/IP stack.

You'll need to use a utility like LSPFix before that route.

The Removal Of New.net.dot. !!

WHEN I FIRST MESSED WITH THIS I LOST MY INTERNET CONTROLS.
HOWEVER I FIXED THAT WITH THE ROM.EVERY CONVENTIONAL WAY TO ERASE
THIS PROGRAM FAILED.
SO I PULLED OUT THE WIN98SE AND STUCK IT IN THE ROM AND BOOTED
ON MY COMPUTER.I DECIDED THAT I WOULD DESIGNATE THIS PROGRAM TO
A NEW FOLDER AND DRAGED IT IN THERE.IN CASE I HAD PROBLEMS BOOTING
2000pro.
AFTER BOOTING 2000pro I RAN ROGERS ANTISPY AND IT SUCCESSFULLY
REMOVED THE REMNANTS OF THIS PROGRAM.WHEN I DELETED THE NEW
FOLDER WITH THE CORE OF NEW.NET.DOT. INSIDE OF IT FROM THE RECYCLE
BIN MY COMPUTER BLIPPED AND I GOT A MESSAGE THAT WINDOWS CANNOT
READ DRIVE C:.HOWEVER THAT WAS SHORT LIVED AND MY COMPUTER
IS OK.
THIS MIGHT SUGGEST THAT THIS PROGRAM USES A DRIVE PARTITION
THAT IS NOT DECODABLE BY WINDOWS.
