Want linked Excel file to open in Excel

I have a client that says in Windows 2000 (I believe he
had IE 5.0) there was a setting that he was able to
change so when he clicked on a linked Excel document, it
opened in Excel not the integrated Excel within the
browser. However he is not able to find this option in IE
6.0 with Win XP. I wasn't able to either, but I don't
remember their being a way in 2000. Does anyone know of a
way to do this?
