I have changed jobs consolidated PC's and upgraded from Office XP to 2003.
THrough various attempts to combine differnt .pst files I now have one file
with 8 personal folders (6 are all the same) 2 that will not open; 4 archive
folders 1 that will not close as it can not "read the file location"

I have completely de-installed Office XP and 2003 and then reinstalled 2003
and somehow it still finds this info.

I have an archive of Sent, Inbox and contacts; which is all I want. I just
need to kill hte old mess that I have created so I can get a clean / new
OUTLOOK>PST file and import just the inbox, sent items and contacts taht I
need.

Help please!!!!!!!!

Create a new Outlook profile using the Mail applet in Control Panel. Outlook will automatically create a new .pst file in the new larger, Unicode format. You'll just need to add your mail account(s). When you start Outlook, you can open your archive with File | Open | Outlook Data File.
