Wallpaper view

When I'm in background wallpaper display, the only ones
that show (preview) are the ones that are bitmap image.
The others (jpeg) preview a blue screen; when I apply the
jpeg I do get the background image as a wallpaper though.
Does this have anything to do with assigning file types to
an application?
I would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this.
 
No. Nothing to do with an application used to "open" these image types. When you make a jpg a wallpaper a temporary bitmap is used.
