Wake On USB

Is there some method to enable a USB device, e.g., a PDA, to wake XP Pro
(SP2 w/ latest updates) from standby? When I check Device Manager, my
USB Root Hubs do have a "power management" tab, but although the option
to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is active
(and checked), the second option, "Allow this device to bring the
computer out of standby" is greyed-out. Is it possible to activate this
feature? How? Do I have to make a change in the BIOS?

I recall that last summer there was a fix related to problems with
waking from standby using a USB mouse or keyboard. I don't this this
issue is related to that, but one never knows.

This is possible but it will depend on your MB and if there is an option for
it in the BIOS.
You will need to check in the Power section of your BIOS settings.
It will be a BIOS setting.

Well, my MOBO (Intel D850EMV2) is supposed to support wake on USB, but
there was no setting having anything to do with USB in the BIOS Power
menu. I'm using a fairly old (9/19/02) version of the BIOS (i've had no
reason to mess with it, so I haven't). I guess I'll go to the AMI site
and see if there's anything there that looks like it might be worthwhile
to update the BIOS.
