Jose

Cleaning my fonts folder the other day, I removed what I
think were system fonts. Dreamweaver would not display
properly after that day. QuarkXPress had also a
few "funky" displays...

Today I decided to do a dirty install of W2k in the
hopes of restoring all the original fonts into the OS.
Now, my computer will not boot up!!!

It gets stuck once the "Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional" window comes up. The "Starting Up" bar at
the bottom completes up to about 2/3's and then it locks
updown

I have tried to redo the install from CD, tried to do a
repair from CD, tried to boot up in safe mode, all
several times and NOTHING!

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Thanks

jose

Hi Jose,

What do you mean by dirty installation?

You can put down a parallel installation (install into another directory /
leaving the file system still intact). Once you have the parallel
installation down you can look at the event logs of the other machine, to
try and determine why the machine is hanging.

You think that you might have deleted many of the system fonts, you could
try copying the FONTS folder over from the parallel installation to the
production installation FONTS folder to see if that'll get the machine
booting.

Hope this helps.
