W2K VPN Browsing Problem

We are abe to connect via a VPN connection to our server, but we cannot
browse the shares.

What are we missing?

BTW - There is a Sonicwall firewall in the loop, but we are connecting to
the server, I can see the connections in the RAS manager.

TIA

Usually it is WINS settings or lack of the WINS server
altogether if you have more than one subnet.

Break it down to one step at a time, can you:

ping ADDRESS
ping NAME
net view \\Server
net view \\Server.domain.com
net share * \\Server\share

Browsing across multiple subnets practially requires
WINS Servers (and all machines to be WINS clients).
Multiple subnets are likely if you have a firewall since
it almost certain a router between at least two such
subnets.

Browsing on a single subnet requires NetBIOS name
resolution which might be blocked by your firewall
even if everything else were working.

Where does the VPN terminate (what server)? A
Microsoft server or something else?

Something else is more likely to mess up the NetBIOS
resolution.
