W2K hangs

P

Puzzled

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting Windows 2000 running. I just
bought a used computer, formatted my hard drive and did a
fresh install of Windows 2000. I was able to complete the
installation after a few tries (computer hung at random
points during installation).

Windows 2000 is installed now, but upon boot up, it either
hangs during the log-on screen, but if I get passed it, it
always hangs when I open a folder. I can boot it up in
safe-mode and saw the following errors below in the event
log.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Is it a standalone machine? In that case you don't have a DHCP-server and
your nic is probably looking for it.
What does a IPCONFIG /All give?

Make sure that your hardware is supported on Windows 2000 (Check HCL or
contact your hardware manufacturers)
