W2000 install and ntdll.dll probs.

Hi I am trying to install W2000 but am getting this error:
"Stop: c00002221 Unknown Hard Error \SystemRoot|system32
\ntdll.dll"
Thus it won't start in W2000 but now has the problem that
when you start it tries to select one of two options W98
or W2000 and so gets stuck in a loop, if I am quick I can
choose W98 and this starts ok but now gets other problems
such as: "RUNDLL - Error loading powprof.dll"
On trying to reinstall W2000 it asks me to compatibility,
it then requests computer make and model - it is an ex-
work machine so I don't know. It says you can use the
number that flashes up at the start of the startup - I
have this but it still does not allow me to find it.
What can I do??????
Thanks for reading.

Hi, Keith (Jan?).

Let's back up a step or two...

HOW are you trying to install Win2K? Are you booting from the Win2K CD-ROM?
Is this a full retail copy of Win2K, or an OEM version? Are you trying to
install Win2K into the same partition as Win98 or another copy of Windows?
Are you "upgrading" from Win98, or doing a Clean Install of Win2K? At what
point do you get the error: during Win2K installation, or after? Before
the boot.ini menu? After the Win2K desktop appears?

Also, tell us a little about your hard drives: how many, what interface
(IDE, SCSI, SATA...), and how are they partitioned?

We may not need to know the make and model of your computer (although it
would be good to know), but can you tell us the basic specs: CPU speed and
RAM (P4 2.0 MHz with 512 MB RAM, for example)? It's possible, of course,
that your computer runs Win98 very well, but is not beefy enough to handle
Win2K.

We can't see your computer, so we know nothing about it except what you tell
us.
