Can't ping W2000 to XP

I've looked at other results of ipconfig /all and I can't see what's
wrong here. My W2000 laptop cannot ping the XP desktop and vice-versa.
Similarly, a W98 laptop cannot ping the XP desktop and vice-versa.
The W98 and W2000 laptops can ping each other. NetBIOS is enabled over

TCP/IP on all of the machines. Also, all machines are having no
problem printing to a network printer and accessing a Samba server.

I've disabled the XP firewall but it still seems as though a firewall
is keeping them apart.

Make sure you do not have another software firewall or protection
application filtering your IP traffic on the XP computer. If you have not
done so yet try pinging by IP address and not just computer name. Also I
would try booting the XP computer into Safe Mode with networking to see if
that makes a difference or not.

Thanks, Steve. I think you've put me onto something. While I wasn't
trying to recognize names, DNS problems are something else, pinging the
IP address was failing.

I took an XP machine in the offic exhibiting the same problem and Safe
Mode with Networking made the difference. Now I'm looking at
Checkpoint's Securemote client as the problem. It loads in the system
tray for possible VPN access and it must be running some kind of
firewall. Something I wouldn't anticipate.

Glad you are making some progress and thanks for reporting back what you
found.
