W-mail attachments

I can not open a new email from my contacts list (gadget). It just tells me
my windows .mail is not installed properly and then the screens to explorer
just keep flying until I shut it off. It was fine until I installed office H
&S 2007. I get the same thing if I try and email someone from within their
web page.
