My media player plays any .wma and .mp3 files faster than
normal. I have also noticed that with any industry CD I
get a 2-3 second echo lapse. I have already changed the
devices coping and playbacks options from analog to
digital and vice-versa. I have tried multiple self burned
and industry cd's and still have the same issue. i have a

Check your sound card manufacturers web site for updated
drivers first.
Problematic drivers can often cause "chipmunk" speed.

You can also adjust the speed in Windows Media Player.
(Versions 8, 9, and 10)
Click Play Menu | Play Speed
-or-
View menu | Enhancements | Play Speed Settings
Range -16 (slowest) to +16 (fastest)
1.0 is normal.
