W@K Server hanging after Login

Good Afternoon,
I have a W2K server that never shows the Desktop after a boot, in or
out of Safe Mode. The server boots clean and asks for the password but never
shows the desktop after that. All server services are running and it is
accessable to the network. Server also has SQL Server running on it and it is
fine. Would anybody have any clues on what tot do to fix it.

After Logging On to Windows 2000 (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=256194).
Let us know if this doesn't resolve the problem.

In addition to what Kevin has mentioned, if you can launch explorer from
a command prompt then the winlogon shell is not set to "Explorer.exe".
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Thanks for the reply but that is not quite what I'm getting. Once the
Server starts I have NO keyboard control at all , the mouse moves around on
the screen but right click does not do anything and the keyboard does
nothing so I can't do a CTRL +ALT+DEL

Since the problem occurs in Safe Mode also, then it sounds like a driver set
to start at Boot or System is hanging. Are there any external devices (USB
connected, etc.) attached to the computer? Are you using a USB keyboard? If
so, test with a PS2 keyboard. Is it possible you just have a failed keyboard
or port?

Kevin,
Sorry it took so long to get back to this. The Keyboard works fine allowing
me to Logon but it just hangs after that. Never displays anything after logon

It really has me stumpd

Are you using standard PS2 mouse and keyboard? Have you ever installed 3rd
party mouse or keyboard drivers on the system? What about remote control
software?
