Vuescan won't upgrade?

have Vuescan 8.3.43 and have been using it and predecessors for years
without problems.. so have been having problems finding two scanners so I
decide to update my Vuescan to see if that helps. running Linux SUSE 10.0
and have a Nikon CoolscanIV ED and also a HP jetscan 5200C both supported
scanners.

well went to the Hamerick site and attempted to download the latest linux
version and it downloads but won't open? and when I try to open it I keep
getting the old version. well you are supposed to open the new demo
version then enter the Ser # to be able to use it. but I can't get the
demo to open???

anyone else figured ut how to getw this to work or is it something I'm
doing wrong

Open? Last time I got it the file was a compress tar. I just un-tar'd
it and replace to the files I have in /usr/local/bin with the new
versions. Why are you trying to "open" it?

it was late, poor terminology usage, I was trying to un-tar it but it was
supposed to untar automatically then load based on the way I had things
set up but it didn't do it automatically and won't untar manually either
gives me the "how should I handle this file" screen and the file appears
to be either empty or some form that cannot be read... deleted and tried
twice more same results

None of that has anything to do with vuescan. So just save the file; un-tar
it; copy the files to where they should reside. Then you're done.

Why do you post that nonsense?
