SprintScan 35+ stopped working with VueScan

I was using VueScan with my sprintscan 35 plus on mac osx 10.4.8 and it
was working fine and then one day (with no apparent reason) VueScan
started giving me the mesige "No scanner was found attached to your
computer. If you have one, close this tip window, exit VueScan, turn
on the scanner and run VueScan again. See the VueScan Release Notes
for more information." I restarted the computer and the scanner, tested
the scsi card with another device, and tested the scsi cable,
reinstalled VueScanr and it hasn't helped. Do you have any suggestions
for me?

Thank you much,

Has have tried some other software? Does anything else see the scanner?
If nothing can see the scanner, it's most likely broken.

I have had similar problems with my scanners over the years, so
I'll give you what I have found. First, remove the SCSI cable from
the scanner and plug it back in. If this doesn't work, try replacing
the cable. If that doesn't work, try using different software to
access the scanner.
I don't have a MAC, so I don't know how they work, but did the
scanner come with Silverfast software? My Sprintscan 4000 did, and it
does a good job, but I don't know if you received any similar software
for a MAC.
I assume that when you turn on the scanner (before you boot up
the computer, of course), it actually does come on? Once it's on, you
then boot up the computer, right?(SCSI connections were always a pain,
since you had to turn on the scanner, then boot up the computer).
If none of these things work, then it must be a problem with the
scanner. Do you know of anyone who also has a SCSI card installed
that you can take the scanner to to see if it works? I would imagine
that the scanner works on both MAC and Wintel machines, right?(mine
does). Maybe take it to someone who has a Wintel machine and also has
a SCSI card installed to see if it works.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else n.

1 - check cables at both ends for fit - unplug and replug.

2 - try turning power to scanner on BEFORE powering up the computer.

Or get a copy of SCSI PROBE software.
