Hi,

I have a HP ScanJet 4200C flatbed scanner with its driver and
Presicionscan LT software installed. I also have a Canon 4000US film
scanner.

Vuescan can "see" my film canner but not my flatbed. When trying to
scan from my flatbed I have the film scanner turned off.

In vuescan there is a drop box to select a scanner; but only one HP
scanner is listed and its not the one I have. If I select that one VS
tells me that there is not any scanner selected when trying to scan.

How can I make Vuescan to recognize my scanner??

Thanks.

I just checked the compatibility page on Hamrick's website, your flatbed
is not* listed actually. No "ScanJet 4200C" but there is a "ScanJet 4100C".

You could study that page to find out why, possibly ask Mr. Hamrick to
add your model.

2 things to check:

1. rt click on My Computer and select Manage
2. on the left pane, select device manager
3. on the right pane, is the HP listed as an Imaging Device (without
any '?' or '!" on he icon)

**if yes, verify the HP twain driver is installed

if no, verify the connection- or look down the device manager list at
the other devices, unkown devices, or usb devices- it's possible the
device drivers failed to load properly

hope this helps

I just bought an HP 3970 for $25!! new at Staples to use for personal
family photos. It didn't work with Vuescan at first which disappointed
me because the HP driver is indeed awful. I checked Vuescan's site
though and it said you could install their upgrade as long as you had
the HP installed first.

I did this and re-entered my number code and it's a vast improvement,
in fact the new version looks good, I will have to try it with my
Microtek Artixscan as well!

Good luck, Rosemary
