VS2005 Xtreme Sample DB install problem

I came across the same problem as Allen (http://groups.google.com/group/micr...69230?q=Xtreme+Sample&rnum=1#dd2160e9c3e69230)

on my Windows XP Pro SP2 system. Running sysinternals' regmon, I found this error:


47.61777878 odbcad32.exe:4260 QueryValue HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)\Setup NOT FOUND

I have confirmed that the specified key is missing in my registry. I tried to (re)install MDAC 2.8 but I got an error saying "MDAC 2.8 RTM is incompatible with this version of Windows. All of its features are currently part of Windows."


I hope Carlos, who helped Allen, or anyone else, can tell me what I should do now.

Hi,

I answered you yesterday with some links. The short answer is that if MDAC
is part of Windows, you should repair that installation. I think that MDAC
is also a prerequisite (required component) of VS.NET 2002/2003/2005 so
repairing it should also fix it. At least with VS.NET 2003 there was a CD
before Disc 1 with the required components.
