VPN Setup

My home environment:
XP Home, SP2, Norton Internet Security Pro 2004, Windows Firewall turn off.
The computer sits behind an ADSL router

Away from home environment:
Laptop, XP Home, SP2, Norton Internet Security Pro 2004, Windows Firewall
turn off

Using my laptop, I use a dial-in connection and access Internet OK. Launch
the VPN that I set up on my laptop, the VPN connects successfully. Two
problems:
1. When I access the folders on my home computer, it reports access is not
allowed.
2. With the VPN is connected, I cannot browse the internet. It reports
Internet Explorer cannot access the Internet.

I have disabled Norton Security on my laptop but still have the same
problem. All my setups are default.

Any ideas?

I don't know about your first point, but regarding your second, try this:

Open the properties of your VPN connection.
Select Networking tab
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties
Click Advanced
The on the general tab, try unchecking "Use default gateway on remote
network".

Hope it helps,

Brian.
