connect to corporate VPN, but access Internet directly

I frequently work from home by connecting to my work network (a very small
network) using the builtin VPN in Windows XP. I still need to access web
sites on the Internet. When I'm connected to the VPN, it forces all that
external traffic to go through the corporate Internet connection (which
isn't as fast as what I have at home!).

I believe that there is some way to tell XP to route only the internal
corporate traffic through the VPN, but I don't know how to do that. Can
anyone explain how to do it?

Thanks,
Bob

You should ask your network administrator to adjust the
TCP/IP settings of your VPN connection so that it does
not use the "Default Gateway" on the remote network.

I did that on my end, and the only difference was that I couldn't
connect to anything on our internal network!

Another job for your network administrator: He must
ensure that the local subnet is different from the subnet
used at the VPN host.
