VPN question?

I've set up a RAS server on one windows2000 server. I can
connect, authenticate, register, etc. and it shows I have
a connection, but I cannot see any files nor browse to any
folders on my WIN-XP or WIN2000 clients. Help!

VPN just gives you an IP connection. It doesn't give you broadcasts, so
you can't browse or resolve names by broadcast.

If you are not running DNS or WINS, you will have to fall back on HOSTS
or LMHOSTS files for name resolution, and net view and net use commands to
see/map shares.

Thanks for the feedback. I am running DNS and WINs on
other servers in the LAN, not this one that I am VPNing
into. If I use a dialup into the internet then connect
via VPN, I can see my files/folders, etc. When I try to
connect via a broadband connection, I get nothing. I
checked with my ISP and they claim to block nothing.
Still open to ideas. Thanks

The ISP settings wouldn't affect that anyway. All the VPN data goes
through the Internet encrypted and encapsulated, so the ISP only sees the
headers of the outer wrapper.

To use DNS, make sure that the client gets the correct DNS address and
that it has the correct DNS suffix set in the connection properties (ie the
DNS suffix of the LAN you are connecting to).
