My vpn-clients don't register in DNS

Hi NG,
I have a RAS-Server (Win2003) which only works as an RAS-Server, DNS, DHCP
and WINS are on another server.

My VPN-clients can dial in, but they don't register in the DNS. On the
client there is a hook at "register adresses for this connection in DNS and
also at "use DNS-suffix of this connection in DNS.

Another hint: the clients are not members of the domain.

For example the client has the hostname xxx, primary dns suffix yyy.zzz

From one of the domain-computers the vpn-client can be pinged with "ping
xxx" but not with "ping xxx.yyy.zzz"

From the vpn-client I can ping computers in the domain with "ping aaa" and
"ping aaa.bbb.ccc" as well

Is this a common problem ? Where can I find an answer ?

Greetings Nico

You can't add a host in the xxx.yyy zone to the bbb.ccc zone. If the
domain suffix is received by the client via DHCP when the client
connects, the DHCP server can assign the bbb.ccc suffix and register the
IP address in DNS on behalf of the client. In the DNS database the
client would be client.bbb.ccc.
