VPN Problems

I have 2 xp home laptop where I have problem connecting to shared resources
on VPN
We use PIX 501 VPN users log on to PIX then use share resources. either
IP\share resources on server_name\share recources.
on these laptop I get connected to pix fine but cannot use any shares,
No error messages only can not find path \\192.168.1.10\shares.

any help

no I can not ping the server when I do I get a reply back from a pubic like
ip, like 209.187.34.98
