VPN printing

I am having trouble with VPN printing on one of my client
computers. The scenario is this: a user working from home
VPN's in to work computer. She recently attached a new
printer HP laserjet 1300. She previously had an HP lj
1200 and was able to print her work applications locally
at home. Earthlink sent her new software and a router to
use stating that she needed it to continue her service.
The router was a 2wire. The 2wire became a headache for
the VPN connection, as she also uses windows messenger,
so I replaced it with a microsoft wired router.
Everything is working fine now except she no longer is
able to print locally. I tried editing the registry for
the DOT 4 connection. Didn't work. Also made sure
printing was checked in remote desktop options local
resources. She did install Earthlink software, which has
since been uninstalled. I also tried switching DOT 4 to
LPT1, with no luck, also had her go pick up a parrallel
cable and tried that with no luck. If anyone has
experienced this, please drop me a line. Thanks.

"Working from home" - is this using Terminal Services, Remote Desktop
connection or what?

How is the printer connected - parallel, USB, "print server", network?

The client establishes pptp connection then remote
desktop to control the mahcine at the office. The printer
was initially connected with USB cable, but I switched to
parallel after registry modifications didn't fix problem
with USB, DOT4 port. Printer is now on LPT1 with parallel
cable.

Can't print can have several manifestations - e.g. no printer, access
denied, no errors but no print etc..

After the Remote Desktop session is established, in the Printers and Faxes
in that session, does the local printer (the LJ 1300) appear? If not,
possibly the driver for that model is not available on the "work" computer
(target of Remote Desktop Connection). Local printers will only be
available in a Remote Desktop Session if the driver for that printer is
available on the the remote computer. According to what I can see, the
driver for the HP LJ 1200 is included in XP, but not the one for the LJ
1300.
