VPN on Win XP Home

Hi:

I have a toshiba notebook that's about 2 years old now, and I'm a computer
consultant for hospitals. I've have working VPN sessions to remotely connect
to client sites, but now I have a new VPN setup for a new client site and
I've tried to install it several times, but I'm getting some errors now. I
have another notebook that has Win XP Pro on it, and I tried the same install
and it works fine on that one, but I would prefer to get it on the XP home
one. I've been thinking if I can't, I might upgrade to XP Pro, but I'm just
wondering if anyone has any ideas about what might be causing my problems. I
have Norton Systemworks installed, and I've even disabled that when trying,
but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

Right now, I get these messages when I try to start this VPN up:

RIP Listener enabled which may disconnect CVC Client sometime later. Please
disable RIP Listener to maintain tunnel connection. (Click ok)
then:

Contivity VPN Client - RAS Error
A configuration error on this computer is preventing this connection. For
further assistance, click More Info or search Help and Support Center for
this error number. (Click ok)

Then the main screen comes up. After entering a current secure token
number, I get a message with:

login failure due to: Driver failure

Thanks for any ideas in advane.

Fix

Go to Start > Run... Type "services.msc" (without quotes)

Right Click the service "Telephony" and go to properties. Set startup to "Manual" and click the Start button to start the telephony service. Click Apply and close the dialog window.

Next find Remote Access Connection. Do the same.... once both of these services are started, try to use the Nortel VPN client.

I had the same error. This fixed it.
